Best Heart Specialist in performing Device Closures
Super-specialist in Cardiology
This surgical procedure is used to close a defect or an opening in the Atrial Septum.
The heart's well-separated walls support a healthy circulatory system. However, in some congenital heart defect circumstances, any holes on the heart—whether in the atrial wall or the ventricle wall—can disrupt blood circulation and heart failure.
If the holes are quite small, they may be surgically filled with some metal components. This procedure is called Device Closure.
Before this procedure is carried out, a contrast dye is injected into the arteries to determine the size and location of the hole. Dr Pranoy will also conduct an Echocardiogram to ensure that the procedure is carried out without any flaws.
After determining the size of the hole, a special catheter with a small metallic mesh is inserted into the arteries. The catheter then deploys this device in the location where the hole is present, and then removed.
After a while, heart tissue starts growing on the closure device, thus turning it into a part of the heart.
Dr Pranoy has handled many cases where he has successfully performed this procedure on his patients. The success rate of this procedure is very high because it is a relatively non-invasive and simple procedure.
Dr Pranoy is a well-known cardiologist who makes sure that his patients receive the best medical treatment he can provide. He thoroughly examines all underlying conditions before giving you an optimal treatment plan for your condition.
